The Durashift system is a so-called robotized manual gearbox used in Ford Fusion , Fiesta and Mazda 2 . The Durashift system consists of 2 parts, the (TCU) clutch actuator and the shift motors.
Clutch actuator Durashift gearbox is very problematic. A common internal fault of this actuator causes the gearbox to lock up in a gear, and when you turn the car off and then try to start it again you will find that the engine refuses to start, this is because the gearbox actuator cannot select neutral.
The 'Transmission Error' warning message will appear on the instrument panel and 'N' will flash in the gear display or nothing will be displayed. If you run the vehicle scanned with diagnostic tools you will usually get the most common trouble code of P0810 - “Clutch Actuator Malfunction”, which cannot be cleared.
Most problems can be corrected by repairing the clutch actuator.
Shift motors - If the shift motors are defective, the car will no longer shift properly or not at all. If you have the vehicle scanned with diagnostic tools you will usually get the most common error code of P0919 Gear Shift Position Control Error.
